Football ticket sales soaring

LA WannabehawkThere is no argument. I made an observation that football tickets have increased since the point system was implemented. You proved me right by explaining the point situation: 1 football season ticket = 5 points ($300)$300 = 3 points.DING DING DINGTHIS IS CALLED ARBITRAGE. Sound it out with me... \&*&char114&*& är-bÉ-&*&char114&*&träzh\Why would you donate bunch of money for points when you can buy football tickets to get more points? It doesn't matter whether someone buys 1 ticket or 30 tickets. The only point I was trying to prove (and have proved) is that a large and often forgotten factor of increased season tickets is due to "point buying," and I thank you for helping me prove my point with your handy links. And of course these rich guys aren't just "eating" these tickets. They give them away to people that can't afford tickets. No shame in that. Thanks again for the links.

LA Jayhawk - I hate to show you several way that you are wrong, but here we go.You are discounting the power of multiple accounts with the Williams Fund. It is very common for large boosters to have multiple accounts they fund. Sure they can only have one account with their name on it, but when they set their two sons up with accounts and start maxing out tickets in these multiple accounts, points add up. Individuals are only allowed 4 hoops tickets apiece, and if they want more they need another account to get more tickets. Also, the link you posted does not account for **BONUS** periods the Williams Fund holds when they lift the restrictions on the link you posted. They hold at least one of these periods every year when you can pretty much buy as many tix as you want getting "bonus points." They are not going to advertise that you missed a "point sale" on the website. That would be like Sandals Jamaica telling you that you just missed their monster sale. You are not going to see that. Call the Williams Fund if you don't believe that.I know several families that bought up to 30 football tickets with the sole purpose of getting points. You are right...that is not one account but several accounts paid for BY ONE PERSON. And let's be honest, these rich people aren't dumb and they are buying these tickets during BONUS periods. I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer, I just really dislike Marchiony and love to point out something he would never admit to. Think outside the box. This does happen.Rock Chalk

Eurekahawk -That is my point. The past few years attendance records have been established due to the point system and wealthy donor's purchasing 20 or 30 tickets in order to get better hoops tickets. Like I said though, this year's increase can be directly tied to performance.

I really hope you all realize that the biggest factor in the past several years was the newly implemented points system. With the "5 for 1" specials on points for buying football tickets rich basketball donors are buying 20 to 30 tickets apiece to get points they will use to get great Fieldhouse tickets. There is no question our great season last year will help with sales this year, but come on, let's not be so naive. I wish Marchiony had the stones to admit this.

KU survives another Sprint Center scare, ousts A&M, 77-71 in semis

Rock Chalk boys... bring it home tomorrow against the 'Horns and show the section committee our trip to Austin was a fluke.

I guess the $64,000 question is would we rather be the fourth #1 seed or one #2 seed???
