WVU coach Bob Huggins: Mountaineers' faults led to blowout

WVU is definitely having an off year this year, but I wonder how much of it is due to the crazy travel. Conference realignment is terrible for the students, the athletes, and the fans, but the powers that be only care about the dollar. When are the priorities going to change?

First to ‘worst’: Lowly TCU stuns Jayhawks

This team will lose a lot more than 3

Opinion: Guard play concern for KU

We lost to UNI because we didn't exploit their weakness, which was primarily athletic ability and conditioning. We were content to play half court defense and walk it up the court into half court sets against a team that played guys with beer guts.

How about none of the above? Obviously somebody has to play, but none are worthy right now. I think you have to stick with the current order because Tharpe is a much greater liability on defense. Adams isn't even in the conversation based on what I've seen (every game).

Memphis trades ex-KU guard Josh Selby to Cleveland

I agree with most of what you said but you're wrong about Irving. Irving proved himself elite at the college level. Selby showed flashes of greatness, but never really did. That's why irving went early and is successful and Selby fell and is now struggling. I am with you, though, Selby is young and I will continue to pull for him.

I don't understand your logic. Tyshawn was not a 5 star, top five, hs recruit that would have been drafted at all after one year. He developed through four years to become a second round draft pick. Selby played 2/3 of a season and didn't develop at all. You're comparing apples to oranges. Selby wasn't ready and he's lost millions possibly because of his move. Bmac has two years of development and I suspect his nba career trajectory will be much different than that of Selby.

Opinion: Ben McLemore's game never stops soaring

I think a phone call from RussRob can do a lot to inspire these pg's to hang in there.

Bill Self fondly recalls Rick Majerus

Jaybate, you must mean 97. 97 without question. Fluke double ot loss at MU. I still believe that team beats AZ 9 out of 10 times and would be considered one of the greatest teams of all time had they finished the deal. 4 of the 5 starters had long nba careers and Haase was hurt. Still hurts to remember...

Forget the strikeouts; Self's still landing top recruits

Jaybate, I think you underestimate the competitiveness of div 1 athletes. UK was in control start to finish. Surely they may have been able to step up their games were they in a dogfight. Of course, this is all speculation, but I find these sort of post game hypotheses useless, especially if one is trying to put some kind of odds on what could have happened.

Exactly! To win it all you usually have to get a few of these guys together and KU has struggled with that. Furthermore, while I agree with the broad sentiment that coach Self knows what he's doing, it should be noted that he goes pretty hard after most of these top recruits. It's not like he is choosing not to recruit them.

If there is anything valid behind some people's frustrations with recruiting, it is that we all expected the ratio of mcd all Americans to go up after 2008 and it didn't. Again, many seem to be predicting that after last season, but there is no historical evidence to support that. I'm more concerned about the loss of DMan and the effect on recruiting bigs.
