Notebook: Kansas continues QB rotation against West Virginia

Beaty says he starts the quarterback who gives them the best chance to win each week. After the game he says, “We went through a number of plays there early, and there were some things that we saw that we felt like he would benefit us by putting him in there,” There are 5 weeks worth of film on WV, why is Beaty unable to identify the quarterback who gives them the best chance to win each week until after the game starts?

Tom Keegan: David Beaty followed wrong recruiting blueprint

Joe - Rational comments as usual. I hadn’t thought about the guilty by association aspect of Miles coming in now. My head knows a new permanent coach will not take over this season but my curiosity would love to see what kind of progress Miles could achieve with this team through out the season? It would give a definite answer to whether we have a talent problem or a coaching and development problem. Probably both but I have yet to see a Beaty season where the team improved as the season progressed.

Your prediction that a coach will be named prior to the end of the season would mean the coach is out of work now right? Coaches typically don’t take jobs while in their current season. Can’t think of anyone but Miles.

Beaty will be fired before the season ends and the search will be a traditional search with a new coach announced in December.

Would love to see a “State of the Program” press conference with the new coach an Long to address the current scholarship numbers and how recruiting will be handled, etc. Full transparency with fans to make sure everyone knows current state, expectations and timeline of goals.

Quick recap: KU football falls to Nicholls State in overtime

Did anyone else have pauses every 20 seconds with ESPN plus? Watching this was painful because of the app and the game itself.

Jeff Long hired as KU's new athletic director

First of all Long was fired in November 2017. Zenger fired in late May 2018.
Second, how many openings have their been since Zenger's release?
Third. Wanstedt, Petrino, Bielema vs Weis & Beaty. No comparison.

Your comment adds no perspective.

Jeff Long hired as KU's new athletic director

Check the records of Petrino & Bielema when Long made the hires. These were great hires. You have the privilage of hindsight.

The "What if...?" Podcast (Vol. 1) (The KU Sports Hour)

Gentlemen. I've always been curious of the What if Adolph Rupp or Dean Smith had come back to coach Kansas. I've never put the timeline together on where they were at in their careers when the KU job was open but why didn't either one come back?

KU's Svi Mykhailiuk declares for NBA Draft, won't hire agent

The NBA & NCAA need to overhaul their draft process.

Option 1: Every NCAA player and high school graduate is eligible for the NBA draft. From here we match MLB. Players get to decide to sign or go back to college. Maybe Seldon & Greene would have come back (if Self would have taken Greene back). The draft is all about potential. With the option of players denying the NBA and going back to college you should see picks of more proven players. Theoretically.

Option 2: Every NCAA player and high school graduate is eligible for the NBA draft. After the draft NBA teams can decide to keep the player on the roster, send them to the Developmental League OR they can tell them to go back to college while retaining their draft rights.

Let's look at Diallo. He was drafted by the Pelicans. He didn't play much and NOLA had to pay big bucks for little production. What they could have done was draft him to get his rights and then send him back to KU while not paying him (an insurance policy would have to be created for injury). Diallo gets significant playing time to improve.

Tom Keegan: Carter Stanley infused energy into Jayhawks and then he punted

Steve - The most Zenger can do is recommend Beaty remove himself as OC. Zenger can't fire Beaty without getting himself fired. AD's don't get to fire and hire 3 coaches.

The majority of talent on this team are underclassmen. Underclassmen who have been recruited by Beaty's staff. If he's not the right coach at least let him recruit this program back to a roster with a full 85 scholarships. In the mean time maybe he'll surprise us.

Tom Keegan: Carter Stanley infused energy into Jayhawks and then he punted

I didn't have as much of a problem with the punt as I did with the previous two play calls. It was 2nd and 2 and the next 2 play calls were passing plays with one being a dropped pass as Andy mentioned above. We had established a run game and with Stanley's ability to run a variety of play calls are available. I think we may have found a quaterback. Looking forward to next week.

The verdict is in: Big 12 not expanding

Teams such as.....?

I think KU has a good shot at the B1G. They'll expand by 2 if they expand.

1. All B1G states are connected to at least one other B1G state. Kansas is connected to Nebraska.

2. KU is an AAU school.

3. KU brings the Kansas City TV market.

4. KU brings a national basketball brand.

The only other schools that have better name recognition in the B12 are Texas & OU. I think OU wants in the SEC and I'm assuming OSU would joint them. Texas may go to the B1G but I can't see anyone else ahead of us.
