Andrew Wiggins to appear on cover of SI

without a doubt. Kansas is a basketball school. Football should be an intramural sport. We just can't get it right.

Turning a corner? KU finally wins close one in improbable 13-10 victory over LA Tech

Its nice to win, but face it, this is not a very good team on offense. Maybe this will get them going, but if they can't beat Rice and barely beat La Tech, how will they do against OK, OK ST., KState and other top teams in the Big 12. Not very well I don't think. Bring on basketball.

FINAL: KU's offense struggles in 23-14 loss to Rice

I watched several football games today that were quite good and had great plays by good teams. Then I watched KU/Rice. What a boring game filled with mediocrity. Face it Hawk fans, this team is not very good. Play calling by the coaches is abysmal and there is no life on the sideline or the field. Looks like another one win season and losers of 22 of the last 24 by years end.

Here's how Charlie Weis' juco gamble is looking so far

Thus far I don't think using the phrase "success rate" is appropriate. To me, there has been no success as yet. Having 47% of the JUCO transfers become starters is not a big deal - - especially with a previously 1-11 team. I would have hoped more would have become starters. If they win some games, then this gamble can be considered a success. Lets wait for the game results before we believe there has been success. Just my thoughts from Napa Valley, aka "Paradise".

Notebook: Michigan's Mitch McGary on low blow: 'It was intentional'

The Hawks had a great season. Everyone would have taken their results at the beginning of the year. Self's coaching got them to play better than their collective talent would have suggested. I believe next year will be a good season but probably not a great season, but with Self and his staff coaching, maybe it will be better. However they need to have a strong point guard that can handle the ball very well and distribute it to the hot shooting players. Guard play definitely hurt the team this year - - especially when the opponent pressed or pressured in the late stages of close games. If they get a good ball handler, then the team will be alrignt in 2013-2014. Go Hawks!

Jeff Withey, Ben McLemore selected to All-Big 12 first team

K State is acting like a player that scored their first touchdown and make a big deal out of it. They are quickly told to act like they have been there before. I would say the KState fans (players) who really are acting foolishly and saying they won the conference title when they could not beat KU are like that football player. Eventually (maybe never) they may learn to better understand the awards and what it takes to win a championship and what they really mean. For now, just pity them and know that KU is the real conference winner and probably should have won most of the awards, but they all can't go to KU - - like the championships do.

FINAL: Baylor routs KU, 81-58

This game meant nothing. No bearing on anything. Even if KState would have won, this game meant nothing. Week after next the season really starts. How KU does there, will determine how good they are. If they get to the Elite 8 I will be very pleased, because this team, while it has played good for awhile now, is not loaded and has too many dry spells in shooting and too many lapses on defense. KU fans, don't despair. Its only one loss and means nothing.

Good-bye Rio. Thanks for your scholarship back.

FINAL: Naadir Tharpe's floater saves KU in 68-67 double-OT win over Oklahoma State

But where was BMac? He played a good decoy, but for KU to be successful in the tournament, he has to be the star. Unfortunately he is not built that way. He defers too much to other lesser talented players. Without BMAC being a star, KU will not get past the second round in the tournament. Sorry, role players don't win championships.

Bill Self questions team's toughness, desire following home loss to OSU

KU is in a tough position. This team does not have a dominant offensive player. BMac could be that player, but it does not seem that is his style. Jeff Withey does not have the offensive ability or skill to be dominant. He will score his points, but he loses the ball too easily and is unable to bull people over when in a crowd. Unless KU changes their approach to the game and gets tougher and plays a full game, I see three more losses on the horizon (KState, OK State and Oklahoma) and that may mean they don't win the Big 12. Maybe that streak is an albatoss for them. They look like they are playing not to win, but to keep from losing.
