Athletic Director Travis Goff speaks at the press conference following KU's release of new plans to renovate David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Aug. 15, 2023.

Kansas athletic director Travis Goff will go into the Ring of Honor of his alma mater Dodge City High School this fall, the school’s alumni association announced Tuesday.

Goff, who is a 1998 alumnus of the school, will enter alongside a fellow collegiate athletic director, Ross Bjork of Ohio State, who recently made the move from Texas A&M.

“Both of us are incredibly proud of our roots and the values that were instilled growing up in Dodge City,” Goff wrote in a post on X. “Thanks to my former H.S. coach and another great friend, (DCHS athletic director) Jay Gifford, for this honor.”

Added Bjork in a post of his own: “Growing up in Dodge City was an awesome experience I think about every day. Humbled & grateful.”

The duo will be inducted during the Red Demons’ football game against Woodward (Okla.) on Sept. 5 at Dodge City’s Memorial Stadium.

Goff has previously commented on the “exceptionally strong foundation” that growing up in Dodge City provided him in an article on the high school’s athletics website, published shortly after he was hired by KU in 2021.

“The teachers, coaches and mentors I had through my journey from Central Elementary School through DCHS have been critical in my growth,” he said then. “The lessons I learned on the field or court stay with me every day and the lifelong friendships I made have been transformational. I could not be more proud to be from Dodge City and to call myself a Red Demon!”

This is not the only honor related to both Goff and Dodge City announced in recent days. Goff’s father Greg, a former athlete and coach and a longtime operator of the Goff Motors car dealership, served as the 2024 Distinguished Alumnus for Dodge City Community College and was named the keynote speaker for its graduation festivities last week.
