After a break between commitments that was long only by the standards of the Kansas coaching staff’s fast-paced winter, the Jayhawks secured the services of another 2026 football prospect.
Tyren Parker, from Shawnee Heights High School in Tecumseh, announced his commitment to KU on Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound three-star wide receiver picked the Jayhawks over a trio of Big 12 schools in Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma State. He now becomes KU’s seventh in-state player out of 13 overall pledges for the 2026 class.
Parker caught 50 passes for 946 yards and 11 touchdowns during his junior season with the Thunderbirds, according to MaxPreps. He visited Lawrence for the Junior Day event centered on the men’s basketball game against Kansas State on Jan. 18.
The Jayhawks have now secured nearly all their known Kansan targets, including fellow wide receiver Nate Sims of Ottawa, with six of the 10 players ranked on Rivals and seven of the 11 from 247Sports.
They are still in the mix for the state’s consensus top player, tight end Ian Premer of Great Bend, a highly coveted prospect who has received dozens of offers, including recently from schools like Miami and Notre Dame, but whose first offer came from KU back on March 11.
The other wideout committed to KU for 2026 besides Parker and Sims is Corbin Glasco of Denton, Texas, who announced his decision to join the Jayhawks on the night of Jan. 27.
