The Kansas women’s basketball team picked up its first conference win of the 2021-22 season, 78-72 at TCU on Monday night.
Three Jayhawks reached double digits in scoring, with junior guard Holly Kersgieter leading the way with 15 points. Zakiyah Franklin and Chandler Prater added 13 points apiece on a combined 10-of-18 shooting.
Kersgieter also added six rebounds and was 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
The Jayhawks made 8 of 14 shots from 3-point range and also out-rebounded TCU 38-32.
KU never trailed, leading 22-9 after one quarter, 35-30 at halftime and 58-50 at the end of the third quarter.
Monday’s win moved Kansas to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play. It came on the heels of a 14-point home loss to No. 23 Oklahoma last weekend. The Jayhawks will stay in the Lone Star state for their next game, which is slated for 7 p.m. Wednesday at No. 13 Texas in Austin.
KU will return home this weekend for a 2 p.m. tipoff with No. 14 Baylor on Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse.
