Heaps could be pretty good if he had some receivers that could catch the ball.

Kale only has 1 loss as a starter. Even if you double it because it was against an FCS, I think he's still ahead of all the others. After all, isn't the question who was less bad?

I still believe a Kale Pick would have been a solid or even above average Big 12 quarterback had he been fortunate enough to start in Mangino's system. We saw glimpses of what he could do as a redshirt freshman in slop time. Granted it was scrub time but I wouldn't have believed he would start just one game at QB. Bad break for Kale and KU.

I'm with you Eric. Kale could have been great. He got a bad break when Mangino left, then another one when moved to WR without a QB who could hit him.

Man, just think of all the passes Jake Heaps threw that hit KU wide-"receivers" in the hands and were dropped. His off-target passes were way less than Dayne's.

Many of the drops were on critical 3rd downs, and it was a drive-killer. Imagine if we had 50% less drops and kept many more drives alive--> no way to know how positively it could have affected a few of our losses, especially the ones (like OU) that were 1 possession games at the start of the 4th qtr...? And just saying that, I feel bad for James Sims: that kid played his heart out, and deserved at least a bowl appearance...

KU WR's let down the whole program (Weis, Heaps, Crist, Pierson, Sims, and the defense who did their part, best defensive effort in years--> all wasted due to WR incompetence). Harwell cant start fast enough for me. Just put proven Pierson on the other side, or in the slot. It only gets better from here. RCJH! And, RockChalkJakeHeaps!

I agree Erich. Jake has had a tough time so far, none of it of his own making. With a new or revised WR coaching system, I think that his 4th and final year could be a fantastic success.
