Looking at these pictures he could be my favorite all time JAYHAWK. You can tell looking at these pictures how difficult this decision really was. You can see it in his mother, what a sweet mother. When you have a child deep down you know what's best for them. Lots of mixed feelings here, she knew KU was very very good for her baby at this stage of his life. Mothers always know. Well it looks like its the NBA for now. Congratulations Ben but the JAYHAWK nation will be here for you whether or not you change your mind!

God, I'm gonna miss seeing this kid in a Kansas uniform. Thanks for posting these pictures. Brings a tear to my eyes! Good luck, BMac - RCJH F.O.E.!

Soon he'll be able to wipe tears with one hundred dollar bills!

I can't believe Self pushed him out. He has things to work on but apparently Self doesn't have faith that Ben's value will still be up if he comes back. Sadly it is all about money Afterall.

You go to college to get a job when you are done with college. Ben is now done with college and is starting his job. Nothing sad about it other than a transition period in life. Go do big things Ben. Rock Chalk!

Hey, Mildcat 7 ~ terrific sense of humor ~ WHAT? THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY? I'M SORRY ~ YOU'RE JUST AN IDIOT THEN.

It's time for Ben to fly. Coach may have had to give him a little push out of the nest, but part of Coach's job is to give sound advice. Self doesn't want Ben gone, but Self is a moral and ethical person and morally and ethically had to advise Ben that it's best for him to go now. If Ben really really just knew that he needed to stay one more year. Self would be the happiest man alive today, but Ben is smart enough to see that the time is now, scary as it may be.

Raise the NBA minimum age to 21. Go to Europe earlier if you want. Paying them to 'develop' by playing 10 minutes a game in the NBA (if they're lucky) is a joke.

Whatever communist. You go to college to better yourself for the future. Ben has done that. His road is obviously different than the norm. He did not go to college to get a business degree, accounting degree or a medical degree. His degree was called the NBA. He has done all he can. Why should an individual have to wait till he or she is 21. God Bless the kid with the talent he has. If you must know the kid is 21. So according to your beliefs you should give this kid your blessing and tell Ben to move on. Its called America. To have a dream and to make the best of it. Ben is blessed with an incredible ability to play basketball. Make as MUCH as you can young man. It's up to you to see how far you can go. Don't settle for second best. I know you will make all of us proud. Congratulations and good luck.

I believe he had his 20th birthday during the season.

Allow students to return to school (even with an agent) having tested the market. If the team that drafts them wants to "redshirt/farm" them back to school for playing time and development, the NBA team retains his rights until graduation.

The NBA team can't bring him up in the middle of the season though.

The student can not get a scholarship. he must walk on.

Thanks for these post- press conference photos. Wonderful, touching moments. I love the smile on Coach Self's face. Very much like the one on my face as I watched ~ the look of a super proud father after our "son" has done something really special for his family; as a result of his dedication to all the hard work he has given and his unbelievable ability. I am "super proud" to have Ben, and Ben's family as a forever part of the Jayhawk family. My very best wishes to all.

He'll be lucky to see 10 minutes per game in the NBA, just a money thing, he is far from being NBA material.

If you listen to the recording of the press conference, Bill Self stated that anyone with a conscience would tell him to go to the NBA.

I actually think that Ben is going to be a star in the league. There are only a few guys in the NBA who can create their own shots - the elite guys. Just below that are some really good players who can knock down open looks, who can sky and who have the athleticism to make spectacular plays. Sounds like Ben to me.

So long. Farewell. Auf wiedersehn, goodby.

Hope you enjoy the fame you have earned by occupying the spot and scholorship that another "real studert" could have earned. Someonw who was interested in the imagniary purpose of the University of educating young people.

Bill Self is really irratating in approving this conduct. He is supposed to support the education of these young men.

But there are big bucks to be earned. Never mind ethics, responsibility, education values and ,morals. Just get the big bucks.

Hope you do not break a leg, then what will you do??

It's called an insurance policy Jack Ass. It's all about the money. Everything is about the money. Happy for you Ben. Thanks Coach Self for doing ALL you do. Great job recruiting Ben and making him the very best he can be in college. Ben can't go any higher in the college game financially. If anything he can actually do more harm than good if he stayed another year. Proud to be a Jayhawk. The rest of you communist can bite me.

Someone apparently failed grammar and spelling. Not enough schol"o"rships to go around, Yeoman?

Rio and Jabari pic - Can you say awkward? I would have expected to see a picture of "The Goat" before seeing a picture with Rio in it.
