Texas A&M assistant coach Lew Hill played for Wichita State in the 1980s and was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection his senior year. Hill played against KU one time. He led the Shockers with 10 points in an 81-56 loss Dec. 28, 1985.
Hill and first-year KU assistant Joe Dooley were members of the East Carolina coaching staff from 1994-98. During the 1994-95, season both were assistants, then Dooley became the head coach in 1996.

Aaron Miles had 10 points and a game-high 10 assists. Bryant Nash grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds. Texas A&M was led by Leandro Garcia-Morales, who scored nine points on 3-of-8 shooting.
