(Boston, MA, 09/13/19) Kansas Jayhawks wide receiver Andrew Parchment (4) celebrates a touchdown against the Boston College Eagles during the first half of an NCAA football game at Boston College in Boston, Mass., on Friday, September 13, 2019.
No college football player has to play this year, in the midst of a pandemic. But Kansas receiver Andrew Parchment wanted to anyway. With his eyes set on a future in the NFL following what will be a truncated 10-game season at KU, Parchment wasn’t interested in opting out. He hopes to use his final collegiate games to prove his personal goals are more than just talk. By Benton Smith

It was January, and Andrew Parchment didn’t have Timberlands, snow boots, nor anything of the sort. So he put on a pair of slides over some socks and trudged from the student apartments over to KU’s football facility in order to sharpen his skills. Comfortably the Jayhawks’ leading receiver at the midway point of the season, Parchment thinks the time he invested in himself shortly after joining the program this past winter as a junior college transfer paid off.
