It is not just that KU has started 3-0 in league play, either, but really the way the wins have come. Kansas recorded back-to-back victories in arguably the toughest venues in the conference (not counting Allen Fieldhouse, of course) with road wins over Texas Tech and West Virginia. Most teams are going to have a hard time winning in one of those arenas — let alone both — this season.

The Jayhawks (13-1, 3-0 Big 12) have taken care of business in a different way than expected, too. They are shooting extremely well from 3-point range, which was on full display in Morgantown. Kansas finished 11-for-24 from long range in the lopsided win.

Freshman Gradey Dick had his best league game from a shooting perspective to lead the way. He shot 4-of-6 from deep, including a pair of 3-pointers before the first media timeout to help Kansas get off to a strong start. Dajuan Harris Jr., Jalen Wilson, and Kevin McCullar Jr. all drilled multiple triples as well.

After back-to-back Big 12 battles that came down to the wire, Kansas led for roughly 37 minutes of Saturday’s contest. This game was really never in doubt. West Virginia fell to 10-5 on the year, including 0-3 in league play after losing the Big 12 home opener to Kansas.

It remains to be seen if AP voters will take notice of KU’s showing this week, with a No. 1 ranking up for grabs in Monday’s poll. Given how the Jayhawks have started in the toughest conference in the country, they have as good of a case as anyone.

Kansas will return home to face Oklahoma at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
