The Kansas football program on Thursday announced the kickoff times and television networks for the Jayhawks’ first three games of the 2022 season.
KU will open the season at home against Tennessee Tech. That game is slated for 7 p.m. on Sept. 2 — a Friday — from David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and will be shown on ESPN+.
The following week, KU will play its first Saturday game of the 2022 season, traveling to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams. That game is slated for 5 p.m. on Sept. 10. It also will be televised by ESPN+.
The Jayhawks will stay on the road in Week 3, currently scheduled to play at Houston at 3 p.m. on Sept. 17. That game is slated to be televised on ESPNU.
The Jayhawks then be back in Lawrence for the final nonconference matchup of the 2022 season, a home game against Duke on Sept. 24. No kickoff time has been announced for that game and the rest of the Big 12 time slots will be determined as the season gets under way.
In semi-related news, the Kansas men’s basketball program announced Thursday that it will officially play Duke on Nov. 15 in Indianapolis in the Champions Classic. The event, which has been held on college basketball's opening night in recent seasons, was pushed back a week this year and is not expected to be KU's first game of the season.
Tipoff times for the Champions Classic have not yet been announced. KU and Duke will play in one game and Michigan State will face Kentucky in the other. Both games will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
