The non-conference portion of the Kansas men’s basketball program’s 2022-23 schedule has begun to take shape with another game being announced on Wednesday.

KU will play host to Seton Hall on Dec. 1 at Allen Fieldhouse in one of the featured games of next season’s Big East-Big 12 Battle.

The matchup with Seton Hall will be the fourth in series history, which dates back to 1988. Kansas owns a 2-1 edge in head-to-head matchups with the Pirates.

The Jayhawks have won the last two meetings, including a second-round NCAA Tournament game in 2018 in Wichita on KU’s road to the 2018 Final Four. Seton Hall's lone win in the series came in 1988 at The Great Alaska Shootout.

Seton Hall will be led by first-year coach Shaheen Holloway, who played at the school and is taking over after leading Saint Peter's on a Cinderella run through the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The Peacocks became the first 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight.

This will be the fourth year of the Big East-Big 12 Battle, with Kansas holding a 2-1 record in the first three years of the event.

KU won at St. John’s last season and defeated Creighton at home in 2020. In 2019, the Jayhawks lost at Villanova, 56-55 in late December.

The original deal between the two conferences is set to expire after the upcoming season.

Next season’s conference challenge will feature all 10 Big 12 programs, with five playing at home and five playing on the road. The matchups will take place in late November and early December, with the home school having the right to determine the venue in which its game is played.

Broadcast rights belong to the national television rights holder of the home team and TV times and designations will be announced at a later date.

As for what's known of the rest of KU's non-conference schedule thus far, the Jayhawks will take on Duke in the Champions Classic on Nov. 15 in Indianapolis; KU is expected to travel to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in late November; and KU will play at Missouri in the second of a six-game series between the border rivals. No date has been announced for KU-Mizzou. KU also will play host to Indiana on Dec. 17 and will have a yet-to-be-announced game in the Big 12-SEC Challenge sometime next January.
