The Kansas softball team ended a strong weekend in style when Lexy Mills tossed a complete game during a 6-2 win over Northwestern State Sunday afternoon to conclude the Woo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Kansas went 4-1 in the Arkansas Tournament, with its lone loss being a 8-3 defeat to Arkansas on Friday. KU also registered a 10-5 win over Drake on Friday before following that up with a 3-2 victory over the same opponent on Saturday. Also on Saturday, the Jayhawks secured a 5-0 win over Northwestern State.

But Sunday was the ultimate capper for the Jayhawks, who improved to 9-5 on the year and have won three in a row.

Mills (1-0) tossed her first complete game of the season and seventh of her career. She didn’t give up a hit until the seventh inning, where she surrendered both of her runs on two hits. Mills finished with eight strikeouts and five walks.

Kansas scored all six of its runs in the sixth to provide the offense for Mills. Junior Shelby Gayre blasted a solo home run to get things started in the sixth. She eventually came back around in the order to draw a RBI walk.

Sydnee Ramsey went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored to lead KU’s offense on Sunday.

On Saturday, Hailey Reed gave up two hits over six shutout innings in KU’s 5-0 win over Northwestern State. Earlier that day, Kasey Hamilton drove in two of the three runs for Kansas during its 3-2 win over Drake.

Ashlyn Anderson tallied three hits and four RBI in four at-bats during the first meeting with Drake on Friday.
