After not playing last weekend, the Kansas softball team returned to action by earning four wins and one loss at the UTSA Tournament this past weekend in San Antonio, Texas.
Kansas (5-4) split the two games on Friday to start off the weekend, earning a 11-4 win over UT Arlington in the first game and dropping a 5-3 decision in the second contest.
Tarin Travieso led the Jayhawks on the day offensively by going 4-for-8 with five RBI, a run scored and one home run. Sydnee Ramsey went 3-for-6 with four runs, while Shelby Gayre posted a 3-for-7 clip with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored.
The Jayhawks never lost again, earning a 9-5 victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi and grabbing a 5-2 win over UTSA on Saturday. Kansas recorded 16 hits on Saturday, which included seven home runs. From the circle, four KU pitchers combined for 23 strikeouts over those two outings.
On Sunday, Kansas closed out the impressive weekend with a 10-8 win over UTA. The Jayhawks scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Ramsey and Morgyn Wynne both registered multi-homer performances in the finale.
Kansas will compete in the Arkansas tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas next weekend. KU will begin by facing Drake at 10 a.m. Friday.
