For the second time in the days following former Kansas offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon’s departure, a Class of 2022 recruit has backed out of his previous commitment to the Jayhawks.

Arkansas prep quarterback Austin Myers, recruited by Dearmon, announced Friday night that he is reopening his college decision process.

Although Myers, rated a three-star pro style QB, in a note posted to Twitter alluded to the fact that he is looking forward to getting to know the next offensive coordinator at KU, he stated “the recent coaching change makes it necessary for me to reopen my recruitment as I continue this journey.”

KU’s 2022 recruiting class has shrunk from five to three this week with the decommitments of Myers and three-star offensive lineman Brock Burns, another Arkansas prospect recruited by Dearmon before he left to become the offensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee State.

None of the three Class of 2022 recruits who remain tied to KU at this point were recruited by Dearmon.

KU head coach Les Miles, entering his third year with the program, said in a statement released Friday that KU already was in the midst of a “national search” to find Dearmon’s replacement.
