In a hard-fought series, the Kansas softball team went 1-2 against Texas Tech this past weekend at Arrocha Ballpark.

Due to inclement weather on Friday, the two teams played a doubleheader on Saturday. Texas Tech earned a 8-4 win in the first game, while Kansas bounced back to record a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.

The Jayhawks then dropped a 5-4 decision to the Red Raiders in an eight-inning battle during Sunday’s series finale.

Kansas moved to 21-17 on the season and 2-7 in Big 12 play, while Texas Tech improved to 18-20 overall and 2-10 in conference action.

The Jayhawks finished with 12 hits and five RBIs between the two games on Saturday. Senior Brittany Jackson led the way with four hits and three RBIs, while recording her fourth home run of the season in the process.

KU scored all four runs in the third inning on Sunday, thanks to singles from Jackson, Ashlyn Anderson and Madison Hirsch.

Kansas will host Wichita State at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Another typical KU team. They play mostly lower level college teams during the non-conference to pile up some wins then the conference season arrives with predictable results.

This was a Jeff Long hire. It made no sense in the softball world. Saddest part? One of the best softball coaches is in Eldorado. He will just continure to churn out D1 signees as KU loses.

Not to mention one of the best pitchers in the country, and a KU legacy leaves town to pitch at Okie Light next season.

Clean house and get her out.
