Three Jayhawks earned national and Big 12 Conference weekly awards on Tuesday, following their season-opening, 1-0 victory over Texas last Friday.

Senior midfielder Ceri Holland, who scored the game-winning goal, was named national player of the week by TopDrawerSoccer and also earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In addition to netting the match’s lone goal, Holland, a preseason all-Big 12 pick and native of West Yorkshire, England, recorded six tackles and seven interceptions against the Longhorns in Austin.

Both weekly honors were the first of Holland’s career.

Junior Sarah Peters was named the Big 12 Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Week after recording the 21st shutout of her KU career. And freshman defender Kate Dreyer joined Peters in earning honorable mention recognition on TopDrawerSoccer’s team of the week.

The conference weekly honor was the fourth of Peters’ career.

The Jayhawks will be back in action Friday, when they host Oklahoma at 5 p.m. at Rock Chalk Park.
