After a strong 2019 season in which he earned honorable mention all-Big 12 honors, Kansas wide receiver Andrew Parchment landed on the Biletnikoff Award’s preseason watch list for 2020 on Thursday.

A senior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who played the 2018 season at Iowa Center Community College, Parchment becomes the first Jayhawk to earn the preseason honor since Steven Sims Jr. in 2018.

Shortly after news of his spot on the 55-man watch list was released early Thursday, Parchment celebrated the accomplishment with a post on his Instagram page that included the comment, “Nobody believed in me. I had to hustle. #LeagueYear.”

His 65 receptions last season, in an up-tempo, high-octane Kansas offense under new offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon, led the team and were the seventh most by a KU wideout in a single season in program history.

His 831 yards are the second most among returning Big 12 receivers, and Parchment also ranked second on the 2019 Jayhawks with seven touchdowns. He finished fourth in the Big 12 last season in receptions per game (5.4) and receiving yards per game (69.3).

Parchment collected 100 or more receiving yards in four games in 2019, including a season-high 132 yards against West Virginia. His season-high for touchdowns in game came when he snagged two touchdowns in back-to-back games against Boston College and West Virginia.

Given annually to the nation’s top receiver at the FBS level, regardless of position, the Biletnikoff Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association.
