The Kansas softball team picked up a pair of wins against the same team on Saturday in the Boerner Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
KU went 2-0 against tournament host University of Texas at Arlington at the Allan Saxe Softball Field with a pair of strong performances. The Jayhawks (5-9) recorded an 8-3 victory in the first game before notching a 4-1 win in the nightcap.
In the first game, Kansas scored one run in the first and five more in the fourth to race out to an early lead. Morgyn Wynne drove in two runs off a double to lead the way offensively. Sydnee Ramsey also scored two runs for KU. Sam Dellinger, Miranda Rodriguez, Shelby Gayre and Madison Hirsch were all credited with one RBI.
After falling behind 1-0 in the second game, the Jayhawks scored all four runs over the final three frames. Gayre blasted a solo shot, while Brittany Jackson, Dellinger and Wynne each drove in a run as well.
Kansas, which is now 3-1 in this weekend’s event, will face Rutgers at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. KU secured a 10-1 win over Rutgers in five innings on Friday.
