The man who helped set up the Kansas football team’s only Big 12 victory in 2019, senior long snapper Logan Klusman enters the coming season on the Patrick Mannelly Award preseason watch list.
Klusman, who recovered a blocked field goal versus Texas Tech in the waning seconds of a KU home win, making a go-ahead Liam Jones field goal possible, is one of 20 specialists nationwide in the running for the Mannelly award, given to the best overall senior long snapper at the FBS level.
Criteria for the award include snapping on punts and place kicks, and demonstrating athleticism, speed, accuracy and consistency on snaps.
Klusman, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound senior from Lafayette, La., was the only Big 12 player to make the preseason watch list.
The Mannelly Award is voted on by a 16-person panel that includes former long snappers, as well as coaches and national writers. The award is named after Patrick Mannelly, who spent 16 seasons with the Chicago Bears from 1998-2013.
