KU softball suffers 2 losses on final day of Jayhawk Invitational

The Kansas softball team suffered two losses in as many games during the Jayhawk Invitational Sunday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark.

Kansas dropped a 2-1 decision to SEMO in the first game before being handed a 5-4 defeat in eight innings against UMKC. The Jayhawks (5-17) lost three of their four games during the first home tournament of season.

In the first game, Madison Sykes recorded an RBI double in the sixth to give KU an 1-0 lead. SEMO then scored two runs in the seventh off Brynn Minor, who fell to 2-9 on the season. Lexy Mills (2-4) was handed the loss in the second game, allowing five runs (two earned) off two hits over eight frames.

Kansas will travel to Omaha at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
