University of Kansas All-American Zach Bradford is temporarily trading in his crimson and blue for a little red, white and blue.
This weekend, Bradford, a sophomore-to-be at KU, will compete for Team USA at the North American, Central American & Caribbean Under-23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico.
The KU record holder in the pole vault will compete at 7:15 p.m. Saturday in his signature event. It will mark Bradford’s second summer in a row competing for Team USA. A year ago, the 6-foot, Bloomington, Ill., native won a silver medal while competing for Team USA at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Poland.
The NACAC U23 meet has been good to Jayhawks throughout the years. In 2010, former KU vaulter and 2010 NCAA Outdoor champion Jordan Scott won the event by setting a meet record and clearing 18 feet, 2.75 inches.
