The Kansas softball team secured a win in its final nonconference game of the season at Tulsa, beating the Golden Hurricane 7-4 at Collins Sports Family Complex Tuesday night.

Tulsa earned the first run of the game off Kansas starter Lexy Mills in the bottom of the first inning, but Mills held the Golden Hurricane scoreless for the next three innings. The Jayhawks (14-21) captured the lead in the second inning and never relinquished it.

Sydnee Ramsey reached base on a single through the left side to start the inning and advanced to second on a ground out by Miranda Rodriguez. A Shelby Hughston single to center field plated Ramsey, and a double by Emily Bermel in the next at bat scored Hughston.

The final run of the inning came one batter later on a Brittany Jackson single up the middle, which plated Bermel from second. KU added an insurance run on a home run by Jennifer Marwitz in the top of the seventh.

Kansas travels to Oklahoma State this weekend.
