Senior outfielder Jennifer Marwitz has been named Big 12 Player of the Week for her performance against Baylor this past weekend.
Marwitz proved to be an integral part in helping Kansas capture the series victory over Baylor for the first time since 2001.
“Jen Marwitz had an outstanding weekend and finished 7-for-10 at the plate for us,” head coach Jennifer McFalls said in a team release. “She had a timely hit for us in the first game against Baylor and scored the game-winning run. Jen had a lot of confidence this weekend and finally relaxed. I am very proud of her and the work she has been putting in at practice. It is starting to pay off for her at the right time.”
Marwitz also hit her first career home run in the second game of the series, and finished with a Big 12 best seven hits (7-for-10). She also tied for a conference-high in on-base percentage (.700), while finishing tied for third in RBI (5) and fourth in slugging percentage (1.100).
