West Virginia slams reeling Kansas baseball team, 21-3

West Virginia slammed the reeling Kansas baseball team, 21-3, Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Hoglund Ballpark.

Tagging Kansas with its 12th loss in 13 games, the Mountaineers rapped 23 hits, nine for extra bases.

Suffering his first loss, Kansas starting pitcher Jackson Goddard (4-1) was tagged for eight runs (seven earned) in four innings.

Reliever Jonah Uhlane surrendered five runs without making it out of the fifth inning as West Virginia took a 13-2 lead.

KU (20-25 overall and 3-12 in Big 12 play) has lost its past six conference games and is eight place, ahead of only Kansas State, in the nine-team conference. West Virginia (24-19, 7-9) remains in seventh place.
