Web.com touring pro Chris Thompson fired a 6-under 64 Friday at Crestview Country Club to move into a tie for third halfway through the Wichita Open.
Thompson and Ben Kohles are one stroke out of second place and three strokes behind leader Scott Pinckney.
Thompson teed off on No. 10, started his day with a pair of birdies, and he shot 31 on his first nine, backing it up with a 33.
He was 4 under six holes into his round.
