KU women’s track lands on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team list; 17 Jayhawks honored

After posting a combined grade-point average of 3.35, the hard work in the classroom paid off for Kansas women’s track and field team with being placed on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team list on Thursday.

Fourteen of the 17 KU track and field athletes that earn individual USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades were from the women’s squad. Chloe Akin-Otiko, Riley Cooney, Courtney Coppinger, Hannah Dimmick, Adia Eberle, Honour Finley, Megan Linder, Nicole Montgomery, Morganne Mukes, Alexis Romero, Zainab Sanni, Caraline Slattery, Laura Taylor and Andrea Willis achieved individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the KU women. Brandon Lombardino, Kyle Rogers and Ezekiel Welch represented KU on the men’s team list.

Along with owning a GPA of 3.25 or higher, each USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree had to meet a certain mark on the track or in the field during the indoor or outdoor season. In the indoor season, a student-athlete could meet the athletic requirement by either by ranked 96th or higher on the national performance list in an individual event at the conclusion of the regular season schedule or 48th or higher in a relay. In order to meet the athletic standard for the award in the outdoor season, a student-athlete must compete in the NCAA Preliminaries.
