KU women lose to Texas, 79-62

Outscored by 19 points in the second half Saturday, the Kansas women’s basketball team dropped its third straight game in a 79-62 loss to Texas at the Frank Erwin Center. All three of the losses are against ranked opponents.

The Jayhawks (11-6, 2-4 Big 12) had a 31-29 lead at halftime, but couldn’t contain their troubles with turnovers, committed 11 in each half. Christalah Lyons led with 20 points on 6 of 11 shooting, while Brianna Osorio added 13 points.

Texas’ Ariel Atkins scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, helping the seventh-ranked Longhorns improve to 14-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

KU will try to snap its losing streak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Fieldhouse.
