Former defensive specialist named director of operations at KU

Former Kansas volleyball defensive specialist Tori Miller has been named director of volleyball operations for the 2018 season, head coach Ray Bechard announced Thursday morning.

Miller will succeed Maggie (Anderson) Bowen as the program’s director of volleyball operations following Bowen’s promotion to assistant coach.

This will be Miller’s fifth-straight season with the program after completing her playing career for the Jayhawks in 2017. Miller played in 104 matches, contributing to four NCAA tournament appearances. In addition, Kansas appeared in the Final Four in 2015 and claimed an outright Big 12 title in 2016.

“It’s a really neat opportunity when a former player can stay involved with the program and give back in some ways,” Bechard said in a team release. “Tori will be in a position where she is trying to make everybody’s job a little bit easier from coaches, players and support staff. I know she will embrace it and do a great job since she knows our culture, how our volleyball program operates, and how we can work toward being the best that we can be.”
