Web.com Tour pro Chris Thompson, a two-time golf All-American at Kansas, survived a rough start in Sunday’s final round of the United Leasing and Finance Championship played at Victoria National in Newburg, Ind. to finish eighth.
Thompson made bogey on three of his first four holes, fought his way back to even par on the day by making birdies on three of the first six holes on the back nine, then finished 2-over on the day and 1-under for the tournament after he carded a bogey on 16 and 18.
Thompson’s second-highest finish of the season earned him $18,600 and moved him from 47th on the tour’s money list to 33rd with $49,762 in earnings. He finished tied for seventh at the Panama Championship.
