Kansas setter Ainise Havili (11) gets ready for a serve by Texas during the second set on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at Horejsi Center.

For the third straight season, Kansas senior Ainise Havili was chosen as the Big 12’s Setter of the Year by the league’s coaches, announced Monday. She was one of five KU volleyball players to earn all-conference honors.

Havili, from Fort Worth, Texas, is the only player in Big 12 history to be named the conference’s top setter more than once. She led the Big 12 with 11.47 assists per set, helping the Jayhawks to a .258 hitting percentage.

Along with Havili, senior right-side hitter Kelsie Payne and senior outside hitter Madison Rigdon were selected first-team All-Big 12. It’s the third time Payne earned first team honors, ranking third in the conference with 3.73 kills per set. Rigdon, a two-time first team recipient, was third in the Big 12 in points per set (4.20).

Sophomore outside hitter Jada Burse and sophomore middle blocker Zoe Hill were chosen for the second team. Hill led the Big 12 with a .406 hitting percentage in conference matches, while Burse averaged 2.48 kills per set.
