Kansas junior Daniel Sutton tied for eighth place, and KU’s men’s golf team tied for fourth place at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate on Sunday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Spencer shot a three-round total of 3-under 213. Other KU scores: Daniel Sutton (1-under 215, tied for 14th), Daniel Hudson (even-par 216, tied for 16th), Chase Hanna (4-over 220, tied for 29th) and Charlie Hillier (8-over 224, tied for 41st).
Michigan won the tournament with a 13-under 851 total. KU shot 4-under 860.
“We just didn’t have it (Sunday) and the result was sloppy golf,” KU coach Jamie Bermel said. “We need to do a better job of being ready to play. I think some of the guys were worn down from (Saturday’s) 36-hole day.
“We will learn from this and do better in our next event,” Bermel said. “I’m happy for Andy Spencer getting a finish in the top 10 and for Dan Sutton and Dan Hudson finishing inside the top 20.”
