KU soccer stops Oregon State

By J-W Staff Report     Aug 27, 2017

Senior Hannah Lukinac and sophomore Sophie Maierhofer scored goals, and senior goalkeeper Maddie Dobyns recorded a shutout to lead Kansas’ soccer team past Oregon State, 2-0, on Sunday in Corvallis, Ore.

The Jayhawks (3-1-0) won their third straight. OSU fell to 1-1-2.

“I thought the girls played great today,” KU coach Mark Francis said. “(Oregon State) is a very tough, physical team and I thought that was the part that we really excelled at. We really competed well in the physical aspect of the game. Our back four and our goalkeeper were great all weekend. We’ve been really tough to break down and I think that will be key for us moving forward.”

Dobyns made six saves while recording her 24th career victory at KU.

The Jayhawks will host Colorado College at 7 p.m. Friday and USC at 7 p.m. Sunday.
