This seems like a good spot for Perry. Dallas has 8 free agents, including forwards David Lee, Dirk Nowitzki, Zaza Pachulia, Chandler Parsons, and Charlie Villanueva. Dallas has a ton of cap space and I imagine Cuban will do his best to retain Nowitzki and bring in some other highly-paid stars. A minimum contract guy like Perry could be very appealing for the Mavs.

Dallas is also a team that uses the 3 and 4 pretty interchangeably which is something that should benefit Perry.
The downside is Dallas is only inviting Perry for Vegas and not Orlando. That could be an indication that Perry is viewed more as a body to fill out a Summer League roster than someone they have plans for beyond Vegas.

I am pleased to see Perry get a chance to play for the Mavericks . I live in Dallas and the fact that the Mavericks have just been average at best since they won title in 2011 there is a definite need for improvement. The roster isn't that good just a sum of spare parts so Perry might have a chance on an extended basis playing in the summer league. I hope he makes a good impression .

Congrats Perry Ellis for getting a shot in the NBA. Rick Carlisle is an excellent coach, and the Mavs are going to have to rebuild. Hopefully, he will catch on and become a contributor. I'm sure he will make it with someone.

This is great! Very happy for Perry. I hope he sticks but if not I still believe he could play overseas.

All the free agents on the Mavs help the odds of him making the team. And even if he cant make it right out of the gate, hopefully he'll get signed on somewhere. I think the fact that he's an undersized 4, and a less athletic 3 though reduces his chances in the NBA. Im sure he can play pro ball somewhere around the globe, it might just not be the NBA.

Perry, You are a good BB player but also a bright person with a degree from a good college. Don't waist your time with the NBA. Use your degree and get a real job.
