KU swimmers second at Big 12

? Two Kansas University relay team claimed second-place finishes, and the Jayhawks held second place in the team standings Wednesday after day one of the Big 12 championships.

Yulduz Kuchkarova, Bryce Hinde, Pia Pavlic and Haley Bishop placed second in the 200 medley relay, and Bishop, Sammie Schurig, Breonna Barker and Chelsie Miller were second in the 800 freestyle relay. Texas led the team standings with 80 points, followed by KU (68), Iowa State, TCU (58) and West Virginia (58).

“Both relays were really solid efforts,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “They were season-best performances and a really good way to start the meet.”

The meet continues through Saturday.

Team scores: Texas 80, Kansas 68, Iowa State 64, TCU 58, West Virginia 58.
