Eight years after helping the Kansas basketball program win a national title, Jeremy Case is returning to Lawrence.
Case, a former KU guard from McAlester, Oklahoma, will join KU coach Bill Self’s staff as the program’s video coordinator, Self announced via news release Friday morning.
Case comes to KU after four seasons as an assistant coach at Houston Baptist University. The return home will mark Case’s second stint on Self’s staff. He also worked for Kansas basketball while taking grad school classes during the 2008-09 season. Case followed that up with three seasons at Southeast Missouri State, where he worked as an assistant coach before heading to Houston Baptist.
“He’s been on the road for the past seven seasons in the coaching profession and I was pleasantly surprised when he contacted me when this position opened,” Self said of adding Case to the program. “Hopefully this will be a stepping stone that will allow him elevate himself in coaching. He has always been a great ambassador for Kansas basketball.”
Case played in 94 games while at Kansas and won four Big 12 regular season and three Big 12 postseason tournament championships. Including the 2008 title team, Case was part of three NCAA Elite Eight teams while playing at KU. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications in 2007 and was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree in 2006 and 2008.
“I feel like I am going home having played at Kansas,” Case said in the release. “I want to thank Coach Self for the opportunity and look forward to learning from him and his staff. I also want to thank Ron Cottrell at Houston Baptist University for giving me the opportunity to be a part of his staff the past four seasons.”
