KU, Formby blank N. Texas

Andie Formby pitched a three-hit shutout and Shannon McGinley hit a run-scoring single in the fourth inning to lead Kansas University’s softball team past North Texas, 1-0, on Friday at Arrocha Ballpark.

Formby struck out eight, and McGinley went 3-for-3.

“We are excited about how we started the weekend,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “North Texas is a great offensive team, so I was pleased with the way Andie and our defense handled the potent offense.”

The Jayhawks (21-13) will host North Texas (1:30 p.m.) and Georgia Tech (4 p.m.) today.
