Norman, Okla. ? Kansas University loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning, but the Jayhawks couldn’t push a run across — then, or at any point over the next six innings — in a 4-0 setback in the softball series finale Sunday at Oklahoma.
OU (26-7 overall, 2-1 Big 12) used eight hits and a pair of two-run innings to win the series, two games to one.
KU (20-13, 1-2) managed just two hits on the day off Paige Parker (13-3).
“We faced an All-American pitcher who had a great game today,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “What I wasn’t pleased with was we had our chance to make some noise, and instead of attacking, we allowed her to attack us. That’s my disappointment. Regardless, we had a chance and were in that game. We were down four runs, that’s within striking distance, and you would hope we would’ve done better offensively to create more opportunities after the first inning.”
Kansas will host four games with Georgia Tech and North Texas, Friday-Sunday at Rock Chalk Park.
