Waco, Texas ? Ben Krauth allowed just one unearned run off six hits over seven innings, pitching Kansas University to a 6-1 Big 12 baseball victory over Baylor on Friday at Baylor Ballpark.
Krauth, KU’s senior lefty, struck out 11 and walked just one, and the Jayhawks supported him with 12 hits.
“Any time you win a game on Friday night in our conference, it starts with your starting pitcher,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “That is four great outings in a row for that young man. I feel really good that our club finally scored enough runs to get him a win. He just keeps going out there and competing and when he gets into trouble. It is all about next pitch with him. He is a real special young man.”
Michael Tinsley went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Rudy Karre homered and drove in four runs for the Jayhawks.
Kansas (10-13 overall, 1-2 Big 12) and Baylor (11-14, 1-3) will resume the series at 3 p.m. today.
