Maddie Stein’s two-out, walk-off grand slam lifted — rather dramatically — Kansas University to a 5-4 softball victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday at Arrocha Ballpark.
“Maddie came through big-time for us,” KU coach Megan Smith said of Stein’s final at-bat. “I am always confident when Maddie steps into the box, and I knew she was going to do something good. I wasn’t expecting it would be a grand slam, but I knew she was going to hit the ball well. She came through for the team big-time today.”
Her slam made a winner of reliever Sophia Templin (3-0), who allowed a run off two hits over two innings.
No. 23 Kansas (24-2) will host Indiana State at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
