Kansas sophmore Joven Afenir trots past the Utah dugout as he heads for home after belting a solo home run during the Jayhawks' final game against Utah Sunday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

Four Kansas University pitchers surrendered a combined 14 hits, and the Jayhawks fell to Utah, 8-4, in college baseball Sunday at Hoglund Ballpark.

Kansas (6-10) dropped its home-opening series with the Utes, 2-1.

“They have really good pitching,” KU coach Ritch Price said of Utah (4-11). “That is as good of pitching as we have seen since we played at LSU. They just flat-out out-pitched us. They commanded the ball and did a really good job, and I tip my cap to them.”

Joven Afenir and Marcus Wheeler homered for KU.

The Jayhawks will host Central Michigan at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
