Devonté Graham injures quad, will miss World University Games

Kansas University sophomore guard Devonté Graham suffered a partially torn quad tendon above the knee in Wednesday’s KU campers game and will have his knee immobilized three weeks, coach Bill Self said Thursday night.

Graham will not need surgery, Self said, but will definitely not play in the upcoming World University Games. Self on Thursday night was not sure which knee was injured.

“He is totally immobilized for three weeks, then we’ll see how long it takes before he’s back playing,” Self said. “He’s lost to us for South Korea. He will not play in South Korea. I feel bad for Devonté because he’d been playing great. He may or may not go on the trip, but he won’t play.”

Self said he would try to find another guard from another school to bring on the trip.

“I haven’t talked to anybody,” Self said. “We have to find somebody not in summer school and can be gone three weeks. I don’t know how big our pool is.”
