— Asia Boyd hit a layup with less than a second to play, and Kansas University’s women’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak and picked up its first Big 12 victory with a 68-66 decision Wednesday at Texas Tech.

The Jayhawks (10-9 overall, 1-5 Big 12) had trailed by 17 in the second half, but outscored the Red Raiders (12-6, 2-4), 40-23, after intermission.

Kansas’ Chelsea Gardner scored a game-high 20 points and was joined in double figures by teammates Natalie Knight (14), Terriell Bradley (13) and Lauren Aldridge (10).

KU dominated points in the paint, 36-12, and bench points, 24-14.

Amber Battle let TTU with 16 points.

After shooting 62.5 percent in the first half, the Red Raiders shot just 29.2 percent after the break and couldn’t fully take advantage of 22 Kansas turnovers.

Kansas will host West Virginia at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Nice, but 19 turn overs from starters is not a recipe for success.
