For the second time this season the Big 12 has named Kansas University freshman Kelly Oubre Jr. the league’s newcomer of the week.
The 6-foot-7 guard posted 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Jayhawks split two matchups with nationally-ranked foes.
Oubre had 14 points on 3-of-5 (.600) shooting as KU defeated No. 24 Oklahoma State. He had a second double-figure scoring effort at No. 11 Iowa State, finishing with 10 points and eight boards.
The young Jayhawk shot 40.0 percent from the field on the week with five assists and four steals.
Oubre has six double-digit scoring performances in 2014-15 and has recorded eight outings with five or more rebounds.
