Kansas University football seniors Ben Heeney and JaCorey Shepherd have been selected to play in separate postseason senior showcase games, KU announced this week.

Heeney, a linebacker from Hutchinson who led the Jayhawks in tackles during each of the past three seasons, will suit up for the West squad in the East-West Shrine Game, slated for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Jan. 17 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The game and several practice throughout the week leading up to the game will be televised live on the NFL Network.

Shepherd, a cornerback from Mesquite, Texas, who finished fourth nationally with 19 passes defended in 2014, was selected for the 65th annual Senior Bowl, 3 p.m. Jan. 24 in Mobile, Alabama. Shepherd is the first Jayhawk named to the game since Nate Dwyer in 2001.

As will be the case with the Shrine Game a week before it, the game and every practice during the week leading up to the game will be televised live on the NFL Network.
