Ames, Iowa ? Junior Jacob Morgan ran the fourth-fastest indoor 5,000-meter race in the history of Kansas University’s track and field program on Friday at the Iowa State Classic.
Morgan clocked in at 13:57.08 to break the 14-minute mark for the first time and place 13th overall in the race.
The Jayhawks’ lone top-five finish came in the women’s distance medley relay, with Hannah Richardson, Dorie Dalzell, Lydia Saggau and Nashia Baker running a combined time of 11:50.10.
Other members of the track and field team traveled south to compete in the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas.
Junior Nick Maestretti cleared 5.25 meters in the men’s pole vault to earn a tie for second place.
Sydney Conley led the way for KU on the women’s side by placing third in the long jump with a mark of 6.26 meters.
The Jayhawks will return to action today in both Ames and Fayetteville.
