KU softball explodes for 25

? Kansas University’s softball team set school records for runs and hits in a game during a 25-12 thrashing of New Mexico State on Saturday. The Jayhawks collected 23 hits and raised their record to 9-0.

“I’ve never been involved in a game like that in my life,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “It was an odd but exciting game.”

Earlier Saturday, Chaley Brickey’s grand slam capped a five-run seventh inning in a 5-1 victory over Weber State.

Against N.M. State, Maddie Stein went 5-for-5 with a single-game school-record eight RBIs.

Brickey’s slam, her second home run of the season, broke a 1-all tie with Weber State.
