KU baseball drops opener against LSU

? Kansas University’s baseball team was held to four hits in its 4-1 loss to No. 2-ranked LSU in the Jayhawks’ season opener Friday night.

Kansas scored a run in the ninth on an RBI double from Joven Afenir, but could not muster any offense against LSU starter Jared Poché.

Kansas starter Drew Morovick took the loss after giving up four runs in six innings, three of which came on Kade Scivicque’s three-run home run in the second. Colby Wright collected half of KU’s hits, going 2-for-3.

The Jayhawks will try to bounce back at 2 p.m. today in game two of the three-game series against the Tigers at Alex Box Stadium.

Diablo Valley junior college transfer Ben Krauth will make his first start for the Jayhawks.
